"April eighth" Festival
The "April eighth" Festival, held in Qiabi village, Aizhai township, Jishou city in Hunan province, features a variety of vibrant folk activities, including the whirling straw dragon, thrilling high-platform lion dance and solemn sacrificial ceremonies.
Dressed in traditional ethnic costumes, locals expressed their ancient beliefs and cultural heritage through suona (a traditional Chinese double-reed wind instrument known for its loud, piercing sound), dance steps and offerings. This grand celebration brings traditional ethnic cultural activities to life and enhances the connection between culture and tourism in Western Hunan, painting a harmonious picture of different ethnic groups living together.
