Xiangxi has established a robust framework to foster a supportive environment for science education. A joint work mechanism involving 14 agencies, including education, sports, and science and technology departments, was established to promote cross-sector collaboration.

Science education is integrated into local economic and social development plans, with policies ensuring its development on a regular, standardized basis and the participation of social forces. Schools' performance in science education is now part of their evaluation metrics, encouraging broader participation from educators and parents. Scientific literacy has been incorporated into the evaluation criteria for primary and secondary school students to promptly assess their scientific knowledge.

The prefecture prioritizes building a strong teaching workforce by recruiting and training science educators and engaging retired teachers as volunteers. Science courses are integral to the curriculum, with extracurricular activities and competitions further enriching students' experiences.
