Shibadong village of Huayuan county has seen a boom in tourism since Oct 1.

In the scenic area, tourists from all over the country waved small red flags, stuck national flag stickers on their faces, and took photos with national flags.

At the tourist center square, intangible cultural heritage and folk performances were staged in turns, such as Miao girls’ drum dance, climbing a tall ladder with sharp blades, and spurting fire. Tourists performed bamboo-pole dance together with the Miao people.

In the Targeted Poverty Alleviation Theme Exhibition Hall, visitors gained a deep understanding of the changes of Shibadong Village through precious historical photos, physical objects, and documentary materials. Then they strolled along the bluestone road and appreciated the beautiful scenery and distinctive architecture.

Agritainment restaurants were bustling with tourists and the cliff hotel was fully booked during the National Day holiday. "During the National Day holiday, there are a total of nine shuttle buses, and each bus has to run 30 round trips every day," said a worker of the scenic area.

From Oct 1 to 12:00 of Oct 4, the Shibadong Scenic Area received 16,600 visitors, and achieved a tourism revenue of 611,051 yuan, a year-on-year increase of 2.16 percent and 1.89 percent respectively.
